Do's and Don'ts of Open-Loop PCs

Adhering to these guidelines ensures your open-loop PC operates efficiently and remains in optimal condition. Follow the Do’s to maintain performance and avoid the Dont's to prevent potential issues.
Do's
Handle with care
- Always use two people to move or unpack your PC.
Keep the packaging
- Store the crate and foam for future shipping or moving.
Check for leaks regularly
- Inspect the open-loop system for any drops in coolant levels.
Clean fan filters regularly
- A clean airflow maintains optimal system performance.
Maintain proper airflow
- Ensure your PC is placed on a solid surface with good clearance around the sides and back.
Update software regularly
- Keep Windows and driver updates current to maintain performance.
Check coolant levels periodically
- Refill only with approved Aftershock coolant. (Distilled water is suitable for top-ups)
Service regularly
- Schedule a system check or cleaning every 12-18 months to avoid buildup or blockages in waterblocks.
Don'ts
Expose to direct sunlight
- UV rays can degrade the coolant and o-ring rubbers, which will heat up components faster.
Tamper with loop components
- Avoid touching pipes, fittings, or adjusting fan/pump speeds without instruction.
Use non-approved coolants
- Using foreign liquids such as tap water can damage the system and void the warranty.
Sit the PC on carpeted floors
- It can restrict airflow, leading to overheating and performance drops.
Disable or alter fan settings
- The system is optimised for cooling performance, and manual changes may void the warranty.
Ignore maintenance needs
- Neglecting airflow, fan cleaning, or coolant checks can degrade performance over time.
Use your system if a critical failure has occurred
- (e.g., leak or severe coolant drop). Please contact Aftershock for support as soon as possible.
